Our next guest of the Intellectual Podcast is professor Andrew Hargreaves, Research Professor in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College

Professor Andrew Hargreaves is Research Professor in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College and Director of the CHENINE Collaboratory on Change, Engagement and Innovation at the University of Ottawa, and a Distinguished Visiting Professorship at Hong Kong University. He is an internationally recognized who authored more than 30 books; he is awarded with multiple Outstanding Writing Awards – including the prestigious 2015 Grawemeyer Award in Education for Professional Capital (with Michael Fullan). His most recent book, Moving: a memoir of social mobility and education, is published by Solution Tree in March 2020.

Andy is ranked by Education Week in the top 20 scholars with most influence on US education policy debate. In 2015, Boston College gave him its Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award. Currently Professor Hargreaves is a Member of the Editorial Board of 19 research journals including “Journal of Professional Capital and Community”, “Journal of Educational Change”, “Curriculum Journal”.

The key theme of Professor Hargreaves’ podcast is the opportunities coming out of the pandemic, surprising innovations we were not aware of before, and the lessons learnt from the mistakes made during the pandemic. Thus, Hargreaves explains the theme of economic consequences for education and students’ well-being when they come back to classrooms, and the importance of public education development. Professor also discusses the role of technologies in education of a post-pandemic period, highlights the significance of students’ independent learning, and underlines the quality changes of the mindset that teachers and students experienced within the pandemic.
